Presentation and Workshop on Paubha painting at the University of Oxford, Oxford, March 2012
Renuka gave a talk about the traditional arts of Nepal to a large audience at the University of Oxford, oxford. The programme was arranged at the Christ Church Cathedral one of the holiest shrine at the facility of the University of Oxford. The programme was arranged by prof. Dr. Elena D. Vasilescu, Dept. head of History and Dr. Emily Pott, Supervisor of The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, London. Three students from The Princes School of Traditional Arts gave talk about their Traditional Arts. Adrian a Ph.D. student gave talk about Fresco painting Tradition of Romania, Nick another Ph.D. student gave talk about Icon painting Tradition of Greece and Renuka gave talk about the Paubha painting Tradition of Nepal. While giving talk Renuka gave a short introduction of Nepal, Kathmandu Valley and the traditional arts. She tried to cover almost all the aspects of Paubha painting in her talk such as history, earliest examples of Paubha paintings, Traditional painters, Method and Methodology, philosophical aspects, rituals. At the end she explained the reasons why Paubha painting is in a threat of disappearance.
